The economic exchanges, trades, and cooperation between Xiamen and Taiwan are moving ahead steadily. In 2021, Xiamen had 688 newly approved Taiwanese-funded projects, with a YOY increase of 19.2%; the Xiamen-Taiwan import and export trade amount reached USD 7.78 billion, up by 33.9% over that of the previous year. The Cross-Strait Electromechanical Industry Combined Development Demonstration Platform was constructed in Xiamen Free Trade Zone and introduced 12 well-known enterprises. which has cumulatively introduced 100-odd IC design and application enterprises across the Strait. In 2021, Xiamen also added two provincial employment and entrepreneurship bases for Taiwan youth, and organized more than 50 important Xiamen-Taiwan exchange activities.
